The Art of employee branding in Human Resourcing

 What is employee branding?

The concept of employee branding pertains to the way individuals who are employed or aspire to work for an organization perceive. Basically, it's the impression that current and prospective workers have about the company.

Employee motivation and enthusiasm to refer people to the organization are high in businesses with a solid work culture (Cowart, 2023). According to (Kunsman, 2023) employee branding is a crucial aspects of Human Resource Management that focuses on creating a positive image of the company through their employees.
 

Following are some strategies and techniques used to effectively manage and enhance employee branding.

1) Define and communicate company values:

Once Roy E. Disney denote the worth of knowing the company values, mission and vision as “It’s not hard to make decisions once you know what your values are”.

As defined by (Presely, 2022)   define and communicate core values are the clearly stated principles about the organization’s vision, mission and principles. By ensuring that every employee understands the ambition required consistently communicating to employees through various channels such as meetings, emails, and internal communications.

2) Develop Employee Value Proposition (EVP):

Represents everything of value that an employer has to offer its employee, such as remuneration, benefits, training period and career development sessions. It encompass the main reason that people are worth and motivated to work there. It is vital to ensure the Employee Value proposition to be unique, relevant and compelling (Michael Page, 2022).

Understanding what drives workers to do their best job, fostering a great workplace culture, and formalizing a company's EVP with the help of outside experts are all crucial to developing a strong EVP that will provide clear guidance to the many departments engaged in recruitment.

In conclusion, businesses have to create a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) in order to attract and retain top talents. The fundamental components of salary, work-life balance, career advancement and stability, location, and respect should form the foundation of this proposal (Habefast Group, 2022).

3) Encourage Employee Advocacy and foster a positive work culture:

According to (Mazumdar, 2023) employee advocacy means to involve empowering and encouraging employees to actively promote and champion their organization, both within and outside the workplace.

Offering training programs on social media etiquette and advocacy to encourage employees to share positive experiences. And acknowledge and reward employees who are actively participate in promoting company culture and work hard for achieve the company goals and target.

Recognize and reward employees who perform outstanding outcomes. This will instill a sense of worth in the workplace and encourage employees to continue performing admirably within the workplace. It will encourage the colleagues to perform better, foster a work culture of friendly competition that results in high performance (DZConnex, 2022).

Promote an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and valued helps to encourage diversity and inclusion while fostering a positive work culture. To establish a good work place culture among staff we have to establish clear company goals and values, encourage open communication, recognize and reward employees, provide career development programs and build a culture of trust.

4) Align with Human Resource practices with Branding, recruitments and onboarding to ensure that these processes align with the company culture and values. To improve employee engagement initiatives, the HR can regularly seek end to end feedbacks from employees to understand their experiences and areas in improvement. Organizing events and activities that foster team work and collaboration are some initial strategies that can be taken by the HR Team to foster employee branding within the company.

      

Many companies use social media platforms to showcase their company culture and highlight employee experiences. Platforms such as Linked In, Facebook, Instagram and twitter are utilized to share employee stories, company events and achievements and foster a positive employer brand image.

Social Media Engagement, Employee Advocacy Programs, Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives, Personalized candidate experience, employee centric content creation, flexible work policies, community involvement and corporate social responsibility are some examples that illustrates how modern HR departments are actively leverage various strategies to shape and enhance their employee branding effort while ensuring they attract and retain top talents in a competitive job market. 


According to Hossseini et al (2022) a positive employer brand results in better performance against competitors by retaining talents and increasing the employee engagement level. In summary, the art of employee branding (CIPD, 2022) through HRM strategies and techniques cultivates a workplace where employees feel valued, motivated, and aligned with the company's mission. It creates a cycle of positivity, attracting top talent, enhancing brand reputation, and fostering an environment conducive to innovation and growth. Thus, investing in effective HRM strategies for employee branding is essential for a company's long-term success and sustainability.

    2. Examples: Ceylon Biscuits Limited, it has the highest market share in the FMCG Industry. They invest a lot in their branding. The staff turnover ratio is very low. Highly incentivized and a lot of investment in training and development. They conduct Corporate Social Programs. It also retains the best talent. From Finance to Marketing to HR Human Capital. Another example would be Capital Maharaja. These organizations are world class because their is a lot of nuances to better a better relationship with Employees. These are also very well communicated to other potential people would be very much eager join the company. Then these are also communicated to the wider society creating strong Employer Brand.

  5. Employee branding is a powerful strategy not only to attract skilled people to get into the companies but also to establish a strong employee brand among other brands. If a company has a strong employee branding, employees will share how company treats to them and different events launched by the company. Especially this is seen on social media these days where the employees share details about their marketing campaigns on their personal social media platforms and other friends have a tendency to participate in such events or even buy some products. So this shows that if you establish an employee branding, it will ultimately contribute for increased sales and to fulfil company goals without allocating any budget for that.
